Service Market Logistics (SML) is part of Group Trucks Operations (GTO). We are an organization of approximately 4,000 employees globally in more than 40 locations. Our job is to develop, manage and optimize the Service Market supply chain for all Volvo Group brands and JV’s.

Position Description Summary
The Packaging Engineering Intern position will primarily be responsible for working with packaging development. This entails working with Purchasing, Supply Planning, Parts Marketing, Warehouse, and acting as liaison for Global Packaging initiatives.

Purpose of the Position
The Packaging Engineering Intern position provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to promote the graduate’s career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study. The intern experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group Logistics Services by working on projects for Service Market Global Packaging. Intern positions are structured learning experiences where interns and our full-time professionals work together on projects within their selected organization. The intern position allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo Group Service Market Logistics.
Core Responsibilitie
Develop and drive initial packaging set-up from material suppliers and ensure that the solution is the most cost-effective and secure throughout the entire supply chain.
Set-up and update packaging specifications in Warehouse Management Systems.
Secure that the part is wellprotected throughout the logistics chain.
Actively work to decrease the total cost, lead time and additional handling in the logistics chain.
Initiate, analyze and negotiate with suppliers for implementing supplier packaging.
Handling of packaging issues concerning supplier-packed parts at our warehouses, 3PL’s, suppliers and dealers.

Essential Skills and Minimum Education Requirements
Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Production/Industr ial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related area.
Applicants should be interested in pursuing a professional career in Packaging Engineering with a specific interest in automotive and aftermarket packaging.
Solid analytical and problemsolving skills.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Access, Word, SharePoint, Teams, PowerBI, and PowerPoint).
Advanced/Fluent English
