Position Description
Service Market Logistics (SML) is part of Group Trucks Operations (GTO) . We are an organization of approximately 4,000 employees globally in more than 40 locations. Position Description Summary
The Packaging Engineering Intern position will be based in Volvo Central Distribution Center in São José dos Pinhais – PR and primarily be responsible for working with packaging development. This entails working with Purchasing, Supply Planning, Parts Marketing, Warehouse, and acting as liaison for Global Packaging initiatives.

Purpose of the Position
The Packaging Engineering Intern position provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to promote the graduate’s career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study. The intern experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group Logistics Services by working on projects for Service Market Global Packaging. Intern positions are structured learning experiences where interns and our full-time professionals work together on projects within their selected organization. The intern position allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo Group Service Market Logistics.

Core Responsibilities
Support the development and maintenance of initial packaging set-up from material suppliers, cost-effective and secure throughout the entire supply chain.
Set-up and update packaging specifications in Warehouse Management Systems.
Support packaging team to secure that the part is well-protected throughout the logistics chain.
Create packaging report, database and instructions approved by packaging engineer.
Assist packaging team to initiate, analyze and negotiate with suppliers for implementing supplier packaging.
Support handling of packaging issues concerning supplier-packed parts at our warehouses, 3PL’s, suppliers and dealers.

Professional Objectives
Weekly Writing Assignments: Brief written summaries of the learning experiences and project updates will be required.
Performance Feedback: Throughout the entire experience, the manager will provide verbal and written feedback on work performance. At the end of the job assignment, each intern will be given a formal written evaluation based on their work performance.

Essential Skills and Minimum Education Requirements
Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Production/Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related area.
Interest in automotive and logistics industry.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Applicants should be proficient in Excel and other Office tools.
Proficiency in Power BI is a plus.
Intermediate/Advanced English, for meetings and presentations in English.

Expected Commitment
This job assignment will require up to 30 hours per week, with the specific working schedule to be agreed upon with the hiring manager. Typical working hours will be from 07:45 – 15:45.
